Learn why salt is used on freezing roads in the winter
When it’s snowy outside you might see lorries spreading salt on the roads and people shovelling salt onto pavements. Do you know why they do it? It’s to melt the ice to make the roads safer for the traffic and less slippery for pedestrians. In this Christmas STEM activity, we find out how and why it works! Kids will get their experiment hats on to learn about saturated solutions, freezing points, ions and more!
