Marshmallow snowflakes

Make our very own snowflakes which you can use as decorations, or that you can simply eat as a delicious Christmassy snack!

Snowflakes are a sign that the wintery weather has arrived. In this fun Christmas STEM activity, we will make our very own snowflakes which you can use as decorations, or that you can simply eat as a delicious snack! All you need are marshmallows, toothpicks or dried spaghetti, and some imagination! Kids will learn about snowflake science, hexagon shapes, molecules and symmetry.

Download the STEM activity sheet below for free. If you’re up for an extra activity, try our wordsearch where you look for words used in the experiment.

And please do share your learning highlights and final creations with us on social media @IETeducation #SantaLovesSTEM or send them via email to IETEducation@theiet.org to be featured in our online gallery.
