Engineering in British Sign Language

A few words from Kailey.....

"My name is Kailey and I am profoundly Deaf. I have just completed the first year of BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I was lucky enough to be amongst the 2019 Horizon bursary winners, sponsored by Siemens.

I have just excepted a position as a trainee Engineer in the Controls and automation industry. Meaning my following years of University are going to be very different.

I am also a STEM ambassador and my particular passion is to help encourage more young deaf people into the sector. Over the years the sigma surrounding deafness has decreased however, some of the old world thinking does continue! Let’s level the playing field giving everyone a chance to enjoy STEM!"
