Taster activities

These quick and engaging activities will help you to introduce or reinforce key concepts in areas of science, computing and maths to your students.

Science activities

  1. The Human Circuit - This activity demonstrates that current needs to flow around a circuit.
  2. The periodic table of people - Demonstrating how objects can be classified by their behaviours (simulated in this case by the numbers).

Computing

  1. Programming is aMAZEing - Learners will create a set of clear instructions to help their partner navigate a maze path. Ideally the person navigating the ‘maze’ could wear dark glasses or a blindfold, if safety permits.
  2. Guess who? - In this activity, learners will ask a series of yes/no questions to establish an answer. This could be conducted as teams, with the winning team being that which has to ask the least number of questions.

Mathematics

The five maths taster activities can be used to reinforce understanding of key concepts including prime numbers, common multiples, fractions, powers, percentages and algebra.

  1. Simon Says Numbers.
  2. Fractions are a piece of cake.
  3. Powers - The power of rodents.
  4. Percentages - Khallesi's tasty cake
  5. Algebra - One great leap...

Remember, they are all free to download below!

These taster activities are free to download, and all the documents are fully editable, so you can tailor them to your students' and your schools' needs.
