FIRST® LEGO® League
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) are proud to be the UK delivery partners for FIRST® LEGO® League.
FIRST® LEGO® League is a global educational programme that introduces children to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through fun, hands-on learning and robotics.
Participants build and programme robots, tackle annually changing real‑world challenges such as sustainability, resources, mobility and urban development, and design and present their own solutions within a guided, competition-based framework.
Grounded in core values of collaboration, respect and discovery, FIRST® LEGO® League gives students and educators practical, interdisciplinary STEM experiences that inspire problem-solving, creativity and a lifelong habit of learning while helping build a better future together.
Founders Edition and Future Edition
FIRST® LEGO® League will enter a new, temporary chapter beginning in August 2026, with two editions running in parallel through July 2028.
This two-edition model will give teams and educators flexibility to transition at their own pace as the new experience becomes available.
Founders Edition
The Founders Edition is the proven program using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ technology.
It can be used through the 2027/28 season and is particularly suited for existing teams and educators with legacy robotics from MINDSTORMS to SPIKE.
Future Edition
The Future Edition launches from the 2026/27 season and represents the next generation of FIRST® LEGO® League.
It is based on LEGO® Education Computer Science and AI, is well-suited for classroom use, and will become the unified program starting from the 2028/29 season.
