National Earth Day

To celebrate National Earth Day and consider ways in which we can all be more eco-friendly, we have come up with some new resources to support your teaching in this area.

Autumn resources

Energy efficiency is key to keeping warm and cosy this autumn. Join us in designing a home energy system; calculate the power required to use everyday household appliances; or why not create a prototype to alert homeowners to the risk of flooding in their property?

Bonfire Night

Celebrate Bonfire Night with our set of new and engaging curriculum-led activities. Use our free and editable resources to inspire your students.

Bring real world discussions into the classroom and have your pupils thinking like engineers this bonfire night. British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). Students can take part at home or school, and there are some exciting opportunities to discover science.

D&T worksheets

We have produced 18 brand new worksheets designed to support GCSE D&T learning.

These worksheets are aimed at home learning and ideal for parents to just pick up and run with as well as for teachers to send home for revision tasks as all include a what you need to know section and an example of a calculation - as well as the answers - making these ideal for independent use.

Diwali

See your student’s faces light up with these engaging curriculum-led resources marking Diwali, the festival of lights.

Students can use their maths skills to estimate the number of objects in an image, or estimate the radius of a light circle produced by a shining torch in another activity designed to focus on STEM skills while learning about light. Or for a design and technology lesson, discuss how fiber optic cables use light to send information. Then for science, brighten their faces when you teach how to investigate the photovoltaic effect. Future Flight

In partnership with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), we have created a series of resources that look at the future of flight.

These fun resources get students to apply STEM subjects to develop solutions in various different ways. For example, they could design a system to drop emergency aid pallets from an aircraft, make a model of an electric aircraft engine, or consider lighting in a cabin to help relax passengers. All whilst thinking about sustainability, renewable energies and modern technologies.

James Webb Space Telescope

Use fun IET lesson plans and resources to look at the world around us with the James Webb Space Telescope launch, due to bring back more knowledge than The Hubble. Inspire KS3 and KS4 science and maths lessons as you teach with our fun and free secondary resources.

Lunar New Year

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with us by completing the Chinese zodiac code breaker, or go creative with some Chinese calligraphy or making your own erhu, we have a range of activities to get pupils thinking about different cultures and traditions from around the world.

National Inventors' Day

National Inventors’ Day celebrates inventors of the past, the creators of the present, and encourages the architects of the future.

With resources where you can design a hoverboard or solar powered night-light on your own to those where groups of students can work together to tackle some of the topical issues facing the world today, we’re sure there will be something for all those aspiring young inventors to work on whether at home or at school.

Sports STEM resources

Get your students excited with our fun STEM themed sports resources.

All of our activities come with lesson plans and presentations that are mapped to the curricula and combine sports with engineering.
